Welcome

Welcome to our blog - we have decided to keep a record of the house build as things progress. A blog seemed a good way to share the progress with friends and family all over the world.
I will generally post the updates - Steve will be taking photos and running around like crazy getting other things done.

We're building a Metricon Nolan 45 (adapted) in Kellyville on our new block of land (around 790 square metres).

New posts will be at the top, so start from the bottom and work your way up. Feel free to comment if you wish - we don't expect it all to be exciting so encouragement will be very welcome.

23rd January - First Floor Frame Starts

The first floor frame has now started to go up.  It is really good to see it taking shape - literally.  Small hiccup with the WIR wall but our Site Manager assures us it will be sorted.  The Windows arrived on site.  However, when I tested their sound attenuation, they seem to be lacking.  Probably need them to be installed with the walls in place for them to work properly eh? :-)

Anyway, forgot to take the proper camera so these snaps are from the iPhone:-

This is the front of the house.

West elevation (left side of the house)

Its all very exciting.  Hoping the rest of the frame will finish tomorrow - we have rescheduled the pool dig (again) until after Australia day.  Hope the rain holds off but the forecast is not great.

19th January - We've Been Framed

Over the Christmas period, not very much happened but during January a flat-packed house arrived on our block and over the last few days, work to assemble it has transformed the site.  Finally the house is 3-dimensional and the whole thing is becoming much more real.  The slab made it look small somehow but seeing it rise out of the ground has made it look huge again.

Flat-Pack house arrives.
These guys put this stuff up faster than I can build an IKEA Billy Bookcase

Look at the size of that RSJ.  This enables the back of the house to open right out onto the Outdoor room.
Really beginning to wish I'd gone for the upgrade on the staircase.
Great, at least we can see something above that sign now!
